Happily Ever After

The Grand Hall sparkles
in glitter and white.
The occasion will make
for a most special night.

There is a wedding today
for the princess-who-isn't.
We're just not sure to whom-
We aren't omniscient.

Because life's not a fairytale,
with an ending written-
it's a mystery and journey,
with many roads driven.

It's nice to think
that there's a kingdom out there,
complete with prince, horse, and castle.
But that's not really fair.

Not fair to the brain,
who must always tire
of the dreams that the heart
seems to always conspire.

It was nice while it lasted,
but this blog is done.
And as for the "princess",
she's dead gone.

Instead stands a girl,
with a heart and a brain,
wending reality,
with all its sun and rain.

Royal Habitat

Every princess needs a castle. And a really, really cool bedroom.

We'll start here. Gorgeous all year round, nice view, pleasant mountains. One feature I really like is the split-level courtyards. Now, my room would be in the top of that tower, way to the left, the rounded corner tower.
I would add a balcony. Extra fluffy queen-sized bed. Several bookcases, although they wouldn't be all that necessary, seeing as my castle also includes a library to rival the one from Beauty & The Beast. My closet may have to been an entirely different room, as an add-on.
The dining hall would by in that long room with the tall, arched windows on the right, looking out on the main courtyard and the landscape. The Grand Hall would have to be just after the entrance hall, by the gatehouse which would come after the driveway that would loop around the hill, leading up to my castle. There doesn't appear to be enough chimneys for all my necessary fireplaces and elaborate hearths.
So, it could use some work. But definitely do-able.

The Harpy

As most princesses know,
It's not all dresses and balls-
Sometimes you must fight
Lest your kingdom should fall.

Today, I faced a trial
Of a devious kind-
A bitter old harpy
With not too much mind.

She lived in a cave,
full of dirt and bad books,
Screeching for hours,
as mountains shook.

She plagued me for days,
Never ceasing her chatter,
'Til my sword silenced her,
with only some clatter.

I was victorious,
Not one single doubt.
The harpy was dead,
Completely knocked-out.

Prince Sighting!

Some men are jokers,
and some men are thieves,
And some are the type
to get down on their knees.

Princes in particular
are type to look out for-
They're often quite able
to make your heart soar.

Such is the boy
that I met today
Tall, chiseled, and gorgeous,
Or, so they say.

But there is a problem,
wouldn't it be?
He rules another kingdom,
With no place for me.

So I could sit here and mope,
couped up in a tower,
Or find a new prince,
with my confidence' power.
